Within the pages of this book are described a physical and a spiritual journey. My husband, John, and I left our rain-swept Devon smallholding for the wide, sun-soaked lands of Zimbabwe, the land of my husband’s birth. We went to open up cattle and sheep enterprises on a tobacco farm, and so began a venture that took us way beyond farming. With the horses and dogs that became our family we were led on a path that took us from living in a caravan in the Bush to a remote Mission in the mountains. We were led through the spiritual minefields of witchcraft and cultural religion and on to a personal relationship with the Lord, that neither of us had realised was possible or even knew existed. But it is there for all who seek it, just glimpsed at first and then plainly there to see.
I hope you enjoy our journey, enjoy meeting the people and our animals, laugh with us and maybe cry a little – but most of all see how the Holy Spirit is there to teach and guide us. May you find that path that has been prepared for each one of us, since before time began.
